Bhagavati Arbuda ( Adhar ) Devi

Maa Arbuda Devi Temple is dedicated to the Goddess Durga, in her 6th form of Maa Katyayani. According to Legend, "Adhar" or the "lips" of Ma Sati fell here, hence the Temple also goes by the name Adhar Devi.

It is situated in a Cave, about 3 km from the town centre of Mt Abu, Rajasthan, India. The Temple can be reached by climbing 365 stairs carved into the mountain. The main idol itself is located inside a rocky cleave and is reached by crawling through a small opening in a cave.

Manifest in a beautiful black granite life – size idol, the Mother is worshipped in this large natural cave. She is the presiding deity of the entire range of Abu Hills and draws large crowds from the neighbouring states. The Skandapurana mentions this as the ‘Katyayani Shakti Peetha’. The priests have been initiated into Samvit Sadhana by PP Swami Ishwaranand Giriji and meticulously observe the main festivals in a grand fashion.
